Dates for this series are a little uncertain, but from advertisements, they seem to be published three times per year for just over two years. Issue #1 features a Christmas ad on the back cover. Issue #2 an Easter ad, #3 a back to school ad, and repeating Christmas (#4), Easter (#5), and back to school (#6), through #7, which again features a Christmas ad. 1956 is cited as the start year for the GCD, however, Brown Shoe Co. published a Robin Hood book through Western Printing which carries a 1956 copyright date and an Easter ad, Robin Hood's Frontier Days. The Adventures of Robin Hood series shows a progression of the Robin Hood Shoes logo. Issues 6 and 7 match the Robin Hood Shoes logo for Robin Hood's Frontier Days. Issue #5, which carried an Easter ad, featured the older logo. From all of this, it is an educated guess that #7 was released Christmas, 1955, #4 was Christmas, 1954, and #1, Christmas, 1953. |
