Synopsis: Gary Palmer arrives in the California mountains to write a story on a festival celebrating their Spanish heritage. The school assigns Rita, their best history student, to explain their local customs to Gary. Rita and Gary fall madly in love but he has contempt for the sleepy town, calling it half-dead. Rita loves Gary but tells him she loves the town more and if he doesn't then they can't stay together. At the festival ceremony the mayor makes a humbled Gary an honorary citizen. Realizing his error he runs to Rita, asking forgiveness and asks to marry her in Bellano.

Synopsis: Kay dates Stan Dryden, a much older man who her friend warns is not the marrying kind. The two date against her parents’ wishes and face her father's wrath when they arrive home. Stan temporarily calms the father down but soon keeps Kay out too late and is forbidden from seeing her. That night Kay sneaks out of the house as the couple race across state lines where Kay expects to be married. Stan tells her he has no such intentions and her screams draw the attention of a state trooper. Kay lies to avoid Stan being arrested and in gratitude Stan proposes but Kay has learned her lesson.

They became a steady item until she felt trapped and suddenly broke it off. Dean and Trudy began dating again but when Helen visits her friend a heartbroken Trudy confesses that Dean is only interested in Her. The two reunite but both hope Trudy will find a love as deep as theirs.
