Shock Gibson was created in 1939 by artist Maurice Scott and an uncredited writer. He is the first superhero to gain powers by being splashed with chemicals. Brookwood Publishing published the first 11 issues of "Speed Comics" in which Shock Gibson appeared. After this, Family Comics (later Harvey Comics) took over publishing and changed the character. This compilation includes Shock's appearances in "Speed Comics" #7 to 11. Mothra makes her uncredited debut in any media on the cover of "Speed Comics" #10.
