Synopsis: After her boyfriend David is killed in the war, Nina tries to lose herself in a job with the Whittaker Corporation. She accepts the marriage proposal of Edward, son of the company’s owner Julia. Julia insists Nina resign her job and devote her time to planning the wedding. Nina bumps into George, a longtime suitor, and he warns her that the Whittakers are snobs. She says she can’t go back on her promise, but when Edward demands Nina write a letter to his mother apologizing for talking to George, Nina breaks up with him. She marries faithful George.

Ricky involves Tina in his crooked dealings but one night while fleeing the police, Ricky wrecks his car: he is killed and Tina is badly injured. She recovers and admits “I’ve been such a fool!”

Tricia breaks up with Mickey and after three years becomes a star. She dates wealthy Thompson but when he proposes she realizes she loves him and confesses her scheming ways; he doesn’t care. However, when Tricia is badly injured in an automobile accident, she and Thompson break up. Mickey returns and he and Tricia reconcile and get married.

Elaine moves to another city and is hired as a waitress. Marv tracks her down and brings her home because her mother and brother need her. He also says his family was not always rich and he wants to marry Elaine.

Synopsis: Waitress Betsy falls in love with college student Bob, but when she learns he’s taking a “rich society girl” to his fraternity dance, she is upset. Bob claims he does love her. After he graduates, they both move to the big city but Bob never mentions marriage. He breaks up with Betsy because he thinks she’s cheating on him (she was just caring for a sick neighbor). Betsy intends to commit suicide but Bob returns just in time: the neighbors confirmed her story. He apologizes and proposes marriage.
