Synopsis: |
Waitress Mitzi agrees to marry book salesman Steven if and when he gets a promotion; she doesn’t love him, but he can help support her invalid aunt. She also becomes engaged to medical student Fred, but will marry him only after he opens his own practice. The two men meet each other and fight, which causes Aunt Hilda to have a heart attack and die. Mitzi confesses her scheme and admits she doesn’t love either Fred or Steven. She’s left all alone. |

Synopsis: |
Doreen is courted by bank clerk Terry and by wealthy Calvin but marries Terry. Doreen’s mother falls ill and the newlyweds can't pay for her treatment. Calvin loans Doreen the money. Terry is arrested when $500 is missing from the bank, and Doreen fears he stole it for her. She goes out with Calvin but he makes improper advances. Terry is cleared of suspicion and released from jail. Doreen confesses the truth about Calvin, and Terry forgives her because he’s also gotten a loan from the bank to pay her aunt’s medical bills. |
