Bill says he was double-crossed by a friend after spending two years in Korea, and dropped out of society as a result. Bill dates Annie but is stolen away by Gloria. Bill is suspected of stealing the local plant’s payroll and Gloria dumps him. Annie and Joe stand by Bill and prove his innocence. Bill and Annie reconcile.

Janet flirts with Owen, who runs a large construction company, to further Brad’s career. Brad rejects Owen’s proposed changes to his housing plan and calls Janet “a cheap little opportunist.” Owen offers Janet an unsavory job with his company and she leaves. Janet changes her attitude about life and no longer uses people for her own ends. Brad sees that she’s a better woman now and they reconcile.
