||To help support her family, Irene becomes Mrs. Parker’s maid. She feels disrespected by the Parkers, and even milkman Tom thinks she’s fair game for his lechery. Irene falls for Reed, the boyfriend of Laura, the daughter of her employer, but Laura says Reed told her he was just trifling with a servant’s affections. Irene quits and goes home to the farm. Reed shows up and says Laura lied: he really loves Irene.
