Hazel falls in love with crew team coach Jim on the rebound, but jealousy causes her to trail him to a crew meet at another school and make a scene. Jim breaks up with her. Hazel vows to change her ways. Learning of this, Jim returns and they reconcile.

Frank makes advances to Amy and orders the family to leave when she rejects him. However, after her father’s chemical saves the orchards from a locust infestation, Shay apologizes for his actions and agrees to back Mr. Marshall financially. Amy and Dave will be married.
