She is proud of his ring accomplishments, but while training for a title fight, Larry learns he has a heart condition that will end his career. He decides to fight anyway, and doesn’t tell Teddy about his heart because she says “I don’t like has-beens.” Just before the bout, Larry’s manager tells Teddy the truth. Teddy tells Larry that she loves him for himself and doesn’t want him to fight any more.

Linda rigs a trapdoor on the stage to open when Marilyn is performing: instead of the sprained ankle Linda expected, Marilyn suffers a career-ending spine injury. George discovers what Linda did and breaks up with her. Linda devotes herself to helping Marilyn recover, and finally confesses to her. Marilyn doesn’t hold a grudge, and even helps reunite the repentant Linda and George.

When Ed and Grace start dating, Rose tells Grace that Ed is a womaniser. Rose becomes engaged to Larry, Ed’s brother, but jilts him to hurt Ed, even though she really loves Larry. Rose admits she lied about Ed; Grace and Ed reconcile, but Rose has lost Larry forever. She leaves town, alone.
