||Janice falls for the older, much-married Bob. Her widowed mother suspects Bob may be a fortune-hunter, since Janice and her mother are financially well-off. Bob switches his attentions to Janice’s mother, and proposes marriage. Mrs. Pearson explains she and Janice are broke, and Bob angrily departs. Janice learns her mother made up the story of their poverty to expose Bob’s true motives.
