Hi folks,
We seem to have the "Your Laundry Here" variant cover pasted onto a JVJ/narfstar/builderboy c2c scan of Funny Picture Stories v2#7 ( http://digitalcomicmuseum.com/index.php?dlid=12477 ).  I've emailed Jim V., Jr. to confirm (narfstar did not recall anything special about this one), but I am fairly certain this is a bad splice.  Heritage shows the laundry variant here:
http://comics.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleNo=16101&lotNo=16162
claiming 16 interior pages, including the laundry text appearing inside.

I have a paper copy of v2#7 (regular version- missing part of the front cover, but enough is present to confirm it's the normal one) which matches exactly the scanned interior.

I notice that the file name for the cover posted here is "1306549973Funny Picture Stories v2 07 pg01 HA.jpg" with a rather suspicious "HA" (=? Heritage Auctions?) tacked onto the end.  Close examination shows that both the Heritage cover and the one here have a diagonal crease running from the spine to the left of the "P" in "Picture" up through that letter, then through the "F" and "U" of "Funny" to the top edge.  There's otherwise been well-done photoshop cleanup on it, but that plus some other things (horizontal black marks in "Funny") line up quite well.

Builderboy or anyone else know the history here?

thanks,
-henry

Just got confirmation from JVJ- that cover is not the cover of his copy, which is the regular cover matching http://www.comics.org/issue/280/cover/4/  So I'm now pretty certain that since Heritage is unlikely to have gotten the details that drastically wrong, the cover on the scan should be switched (I'd do this, but as those who have been kind enough to edit and assemble my scans know, I'm not really up on the details of how to get a replacement up on the site- or do a good job photoshopping the proper cover for that matter!)

thanks,
-henry

Ok, thanks Henry.
Geo or I should get this fixed in the near future.
Or if someone out there would like to correct it and reupload it to the site please feel free.
Then let us know it's there so we can remove the incorrect one.

I wonder why the cover change? Only the 10¢ and date is different. I've got a copy of both covers and will cut and paste the two together on this sometime today hopefully. And see what I come up with.

Henry and All,

My fault entirely.  Prior to receiving Narfstar's scans of Jim's book, I had done a download of every quality cover I could find as place holders and a stockpile for coverless book scans.  I inadvertently used the wrong cover, but still have narf's original scan.  I will fix it this afternoon.

Do you mean you have two physical copies of this issue, one with each cover, and can verify that the interior pages are identical?  From what I've been able to find about the laundry promo, it's contents are not identical to the regular issue (fewer pages, more "your laundry here" placeholders inside).

What Builderboy did is copy the best covers from HA, and save them to use later on books without covers and then would add them to them. He doesn't have two copies of this issue and I don't either, sorry, just the front covers of both versions.

In that case I would not include the laundry cover on the scan.  It is the cover for an otherwise completely different (and very rare) issue that happened to recycle the same cover art.

Builderboy here's the cover, I clean up a bit for this so you can use it if you want:

I can email you the full size version if need be as they don't save the full size one, just a smaller version.

Geo,

That's a nicer version that the one that I will be uploading. If you want to add your cover into the file after I have it up, Geo, that would be great.  In the interest of expediency, I will put up a corrected version in a couple minutes.

OK...it's up. If an admin could kindly pull the old version, we should be square.
