Wow that Wood book looks great, I'm definitely adding it to my list. I have Strange Worlds of Science Fiction, also by Vanguard - looks like they're both part of a series? Anyway it's a wonderful book.

Another one I found but haven't bought yet: Rue Morgue Library 06 Blood in Four Colours - A Graphic History of Horror Comics (2016)

I know the Rue Morgue magazine but never heard of this one.  Let us know what you think of it if you get it GB.

I got a copy of that Rue Morgue book in today. It's really nice. Matte pages and full color. It mostly covers modern stuff, and it dedicates as many pages to Warren/Eerie mags as it does GA and pulps, but it was worth the $8 I paid for it.

Here's a shot of the table of contents for the curious: https://i.imgur.com/tdaldKI.jpg

I also found a copy of Ghastly Terror!: The Horrible Story of the Horror Comics at cover price while browsing around my local comics store this morning. The last ~30 pages cover bronze to modern, while the rest is split between GA and Waren/Eerie/Skywald stuff. There's a list of all pre-code horror books in the back by publisher, and even an appendix with a copy of the Comics Code. Pictures on nearly every page, but it's all black and white. I haven't started reading but it looks like a really nice book.

Lastly I see a book on eBay called Weird Ghastly Horror : Forbidden Horror Comics of The 1950s. I can't find much info and it's stupid expensive, but I added it to my list, and thought I would mention it here.

Here's another one for you GB. The High Cost of Dying and other Stories by Reed Crandall, Fantagraphics Books 2016, 159 pages. Lots of stories from EC Comics that may interest you. Reed Crandall's art is the reason I bought the book.

That's one of several different artist spotlight volumes that Fantagraphics has put out the last couple years.

I sold some prototype Lego parts for a few hundred dollars last week, so I decided to buy some books that I have had on my wishlist for a while. I'm looking forward to reading them!

There's a new one out - The Horror Comic Never Dies: A Grisly History. Has anyone read it?

Thanks for finding those reviews, Yoc. Maybe I'll pass on that one.

A couple more recent and relevant publications:
EC Comics: Race, Shock, and Social Protest
James Warren, Empire Of Monsters: The Man Behind Creepy, Vampirella, And Famous Monsters

I've only heard of the second one but haven't gotten to read it.
