I thank you as well good sirs! I've been waiting for YEARS to read the full "Threat from Saturn" serial!!! Seriously. Blue Beetle #35 was one of the very first GA superhero books I ever bought. If I remember right, I got it on Yahoo auctions back in early 1999 when I was just 15 or 16. It pre-dated my "All-Amazing Comics" reprinting days by a good 5-6 months, pre-dated my discovery of Bill Nolan's "Pure Excitement Comics," and really even pre-dated my knowledge of the Golden Age in general outside of DC and Marvel. I knew of Fawcett from reprints in Shazam! and the fact that I already had bought an issue of Captain Marvel Jr. a few years earlier. I also knew that Blue Beetle, one of my favorite DC characters, had come from another company and had a history in the Golden Age, but I really didn't know anything at all about this "Fox Features Syndicate" that made the book. Certainly nothing about the myriad of other GA publishers out there. All I cared about was the name "Blue Beetle" on the cover. I absolutely LOVED the book. It was missing the centerfold which made the Joan Mason story incomplete, but what did that matter? Blue Beetle was complete, and he was the reason I bought the book. He WAS complete, wasn't he? Oh, wait, one story was part of a serial! Darn it!!!
I was frustrated then because I "knew" for certain that I'd never be able to get the rest of the books to finish that story. I didn't even have any idea how long it was! Heck, it wasn't until you posted the book that I even knew whether or not Fox even finished the darned thing or just let it drop open-ended. So again, thank you. I can't wait for some quiet time to sit down and read the entire serial from beginning to end. I'm sure it's probably no classic, but it has meaning for me, so that alone should make it an enjoyable experience.
