Battling Battles
« on: November 06, 2013, 10:35:33 PM »
Just wondering why Cap Battle 5 is lumped in with Gleason's #1-2. The section's description says:
(1941 Series)    Summer 1941 to Fall 1941
Issues Published: 2   (#1 - #2)
COMPLETE SERIES!
Tracking- Continued as Boy Comics (Lev Gleason, 1942 series) #3 onwards.
Numbering also continued with Captain Battle Comics (Dynamic [Harry "A" Chesler; Magazine Press], 1942 series) #3.

The gcbdb has #5 filed under publisher 'Picture Scoop, Inc.' who they describe as:
"Owned and managed by Arthur Bernard and Morris S. Latzen. Picture Scoop, Inc. published magazines from 1942 to 1946."

So, it seems #5 should be under Small Publishers, or maybe lumped with the Chesler issue.

I personally lump them together as it's the same character.  I dislike fragmenting the collection so much but I've renamed and moved it to small publishers.

There's other characters split over multi-publishers (see my Capt Easy message), so it's not so bad. If you don't want to totally separate it, lumping it with the Chesler seems to be a better bet.
