Thanks for the complements guys, I enjoy doing these oddball things every now and then... love the self-imposed creative challenges... best thing to help keep one's mind active.
I love the poster I've squirreled it away for future use and I really like the C+B bit going on !
Glad you like it dude, I'm just happy to contribute in some small way to keeping the spirit of these old comics alive for future generations of readers who might be interested in them... as long as I don't walk into Walmart one day and see C+B or comiC+Book on a bunch of t-shirts and coffee mugs... not that we couldn't work something out if it came to that.
Sorta kidding here of course.
Actually, the original reason (challenge) for my doing the painting was to get some practice creating a somewhat original illustration from various photo references (thus working out and reconciling various problems with the differing perspectives, lighting, etc...). Then I realized Halloween was coming up, and I had wanted to do something with that theme for DCM... ya know, to match the "love" and "crime" ones... but then I had realized I had half jokingly mentioned doing something for CB+ and so there you have it.
The "C+B" bit was a doodle idea I'd come up with awhile back... that "dangling" trailing plus sign always bothered me for some reason. Believe it or not, the "comiC+Book Plus" was a last minute thing that seemed to come out of nowhere, it was a contrivance that just seemed to fit and balance out the faux posters overall look... which somehow turned out looking like a movie poster(?!?). Weird.
For those who haven't seen it, Crime...
