I'm trying to locate a Golden Age story for my mom. She remembers it was about a cat with a human body who owned a nightclub and would sing at a piano. The nightclub would attract lowlifes and criminals and she was a detective who would catch the crooks for the police. One song she sang was "Beat me daddy, eight to the bar". My mom thinks she was under 10 years old at the time, so this would have been around 1939-1942. That song came out in 1940, so the time frame matches. The character was not the title character of the book and was not featured on the cover. There may have been a couple of issues that featured the character. Her name may have been Kitty and the other stories of the book featured other animals (not human).
