Best reader for yellow scans
« on: December 26, 2012, 11:02:59 PM »
Hi,
Is there a reader that can lessen the yellow on scans that are saturated in the color? I've been using the reader MMCE and I like its simplicity, plus it has a good sharpen and contrast feature, but it can't do anything with the yellow. From the different sites listed on the FAQ page for readers only ComicRack mentions color adjustments. I installed it and it works OK, but you can't alter the yellow directly, you mess with saturation and contrast which changes all the colors (though it does make it better looking). In photoshop I can fix the yellow and save it as a new file, but to do that to each comic with a problem is time consuming. Any suggestions?

This site is fantastic!

Hi PM6,
I just added your Blackhawk scan and mentioned there are some apps that will auto adjust yellow levels.
I've only used one app so far for reading - CDisplay - which has an option for adjusting colouring in the Settings area.
It's an old app - I'm sure the newer apps must have that as an option somewhere in them.

Anyone else recommend a reader for this to PM6?

You welcome PM.
I believe this would solve all but the most extreme examples of yellowing in a scan.
I suggest you save some time and only re-edit those very, very yellow scans.

Hi PM,
I'm going to start looking close at the original vs your colour adjusted scans.  If I feel the original isn't horribly yellow I'm going to not add your version.
I hope you don't mind but as I mentioned, some software apps will allow each individual reader to choose if they want the yellow removed and some even let you choose the amount of yellow to keep.  So while I appreciate your efforts, I don't think we need a lot of them in two versions.

I added two of the three Cracks you uploaded.  #33 wasn't that bad IMO.
