JVJ Collection

My day is brightened by every new JVJ scan, but nothing lasts forever.

How far along is the scanning - how much is left?

I have NO idea how far along we are, Eddie.
I've never even counted up how many comics I have. At last count DCM had 1700+ JVJ books online, but there are AT LEAST that many more available to be scanned. Rangerhouse just keeps on scanning away and has chosen a slew of Lev Gleason crime books for his next batch.

Happy to help.

Good to know Jim!

DCM and all comic lovers out there owe a HUGE debt of thanks to Jim here for all he's given us by allowing trusted scanners to share his collection.

Now if ANYONE out there has a book or books they'd like to share but can't handle the scanning job themselves PLEASE use the CONTACT US link under the banner and let us know.  Rangerhouse's Scanning Services is willing to scan for you and return your books in record time!

And as a side note - there is a JVJ Postage Fund that helps to cover Jim's costs in sending his books out for scanning.

Jim has loaned out 1700+ comics from his collection for scanning and sharing.
Without his help this site would be a shadow of what it is today.

If you are enjoying these scans PLEASE consider donating to the JVJ Postage Fund -
Please donate to the Fund using Paypal - orders@bpib.com

Hi Yoc,

I just sent orders@bpib.com $20.00 via paypal from Mr_Goldenage. Let me know that you received the money ok? You all have done an outstanding job here. I wish there was more I could do here. I can do some at CB+ on foreign books but most of my USA GA books I have sold off over the last 5 or so years. Some I had scanned and some I did not. I just moved a few months ago and all my USB external terabyte drives (all 10 of them) are not hooked up yet let alone my scanner. I do have about 50 USA GA books that were not in sellable condition. I will look through those and see what I have. Take care guys and gals. Oh Yeah.....Yoc....Darren says Hello.....

Thanks, Richard,
This does bring up an interesting point. I feel the need to acknowledge on the site (actually on CB+, where I keep the accounting) every donation. On PayPal, you have to be a real person, but on-line you can be anybody. So I got a donation of $20 from Richard Boucher, NOT from Mr_Goldenage. If donators do not want to be named in the acknowledgements, please let me know as a "comment" with your donation.

Peace, Jim (|:{>

And, Yoc, you're welcome. It's really not a biggie. They're ONLY comic books - not at all like the 115-year-old issue of Figaro Illustré I picked up at a paper show in Paris with its Alphonse Mucha color cover. Now THAT I might think twice about mailing to someone...

Comics they may be but it's still a lovely thing you've done for all collectors out there Jim.  That Figaro Illustre must be interesting to look at.  Congrats!  :)

Hi Richard,
Thanks Very Much for helping out with the Postage Fund!
You know, you were one of the people I was wondering if they were interested in letting ranghouse scan their books.  I recall in the past you focused on single stories for the great old site.  If you had anything left in your collection that fit on DCM or CB+ that wasn't scanned and wanted our help just let us know.  Rangerhouse's professional level scanner does no damage to the originals (or next to no damage, he does have to open them to allow the photos to be taken and you never know with these very, very old comics.) and returns them to you in less than a week if needed.

Hey, great to know Darrin is still out there.  I miss the old gang.  Would love to see him posting messages here!  Please say hi for me as well.

Here's a small peek at the Figaro cover, Yoc.
It's probably going to appear on the cover of the next issue of ImageS. I think it's pretty rare. I have a book entitled Alphonse Mucha: The Complete Graphic Works and it's one of the few items that is only mentioned and not reproduced.

Another cool item I found there was a copy of the 1963, Jack Davis illustrated, The Hiptionary - a book I'd heard about but never seen.

Hey, nice cover here Jim!
Yes, I believe I've heard of the Hiptionary as well somewhere.  Never seen it though.

Thanks, Poz.
I'll do my best. I wasn't planning on one, but then you put the idea in my head and I though, "why not?" - so, I'm going to do it! Thanks again!
