The Digital Comic Museum history topic
« on: August 26, 2012, 02:22:16 PM »
I am a little curious about the Digital Comic Museum.  I noticed that you are celebrating your 2nd year anniversary recently.
High above on Mt. Olympus in their Fortress of Solitude the Digital Comic Museum stands as a beacon of truth, light and free public
domain comics available to the public in their pursuit of happiness on the internet. Would you mind telling me a little history of the
Digital Comic Museum?  How did you get started?  Where are you located? How many staff members do you have?  Any information you feel like sharing. How many active members do you have?  I wonder what the average age of your members are?
Older or younger?  I sometimes wonder if people download these comics because they are trying to complete their collections or
if they happened to find something that is new, that they enjoy reading?  Thanks,  Brian

Well Brian, I have been credited with starting the GA digital scan phenomenon. Many many moons ago I put up some Amazing Man scans. Bill Nolan said it was his inspiration for his Prescription for/Pure Excitement website. Which was the premier site which I think was followed by Golden Age Greats and Goldenage MLJ scans. Scans popped up elsewhere mainly of stories with the MLJ's being full issues. GACUK began the ambitious task of accepting and posting any and all PD comics before 1960. Two years ago DCM split from GACUK and became its own have for gold. GACUK has recently transformed into comicbooksplus.com and has included SA comics believed to be abandoned or public domain.

Hi Narf,
Hey, I didn't know you inspired Bill Nolan!  Congrats on that and the wonderful world of GA scans that soon followed!
