Quick find Jim. Do you have a Mark Waid cover mind?

Not sure what a "Mark Waid cover mind" is, Jim,
but I assure you that I do NOT have one. When I looked at that image, what I "saw" was a) an old comic style [pre-1940] and b) a Centaur-ish "feel" to the pose and content.

Given the two, it didn't take long to find it. I can usually include or eliminate large swathes of comics at a "glance" - just from what I own and what I've seen. I don't have an image of the cover, just the parameters of the style and content.

I believe it is Mark Waid that if you give him the cover details from any DC comic he can tell you the issue? He may be able to that with more than DC but it was at the DC panel at Heroes Con that he performed.

Gad, Mark, if there's a way to cheat at this game, I NEED to know it.

I think I can just narrow down the time and the company on a lot of images better than most. Then I look through those covers on GCD. Is that cheating? Or are we getting sour grapes served to us? Mark, I'm older and I own more comics than you. And I've internalized them in a completely different way than you. You'll beat me every time with obscure titles, but I see my side of the game as giving you as much information as I can of abstract portions of covers from less common issues of more mainstream titles: Treasure Comics, Air Fighters, Crime Fighting Detective, Soldiers of Fortune, White Indian, etc. I don't believe that these are obscure, but YMMV.

No I did not just see this comic when looking at issue 4 but I got a feel. I can not explain why certain things jump out as being a particular company. But I just felt that this was a Toby comic, I actually think it is the coloring.

I was teasing you (yet again) and I am sorry, but sometimes it is a bit too tempting to light your touch paper. And YES I REALLY do cheat.

I know nothing about comics, I think I bought one when I was a kid 'cos it had a free ring that squirted water. Narf, Paw and Joe are the major comic brains behind CB+.

I just see the huge amount of public domain material that I can play with to make a site. PLUS it is VERY important to archive the books both from social and artistic aspects. I take this VERY seriously and it is a BIG responsibility.

But, it is also just too much fun!!

I knew you were teasing, Mark. I was giving Narf a serious answer when he was inquiring about my approach. Were you teasing about cheating, too? If I knew how, I'd definitely cheat, too. But I can't figure out a way to do it. What's the secret?

You seem to have a strange interpretation of my responses. "Light your touch paper" implies a hell of a lot more investment than I have in all this.

Looks like a late '50s kids book - WAY out of my interest/experience range. You'll always catch me on stuff like this. And Mark's cheat sheet isn't too quick on these either.
