more on title changes
« on: June 22, 2012, 09:15:57 PM »
Ok, but the comic's title is still 'New Heroic Comics' from 38 on, and I just noticed that you do have an empty 'New HC' section, but with no cross-reference.

And how about Feature Funnies & Feature Comics?
Air Fighters & Airboys?
And, my favourite pet peeve: Tim Holt & Redmask?

(of course, maybe the heat is getting to me)

Len, I've already got a migraine.
New Heroic says 'Please refer to the Heroic comics section'.
Feature Funnies/Comics was created before I joined and I'm just going to leave it as-is.
Same for Air Fighters/Boy.

Not sure what you'd want to be done with Tim Holt/Redmask.

I'm on the side of consolidating comics if all that changed was the title, so: Feature Funnies + Comics in one section; Air Fighters + Boys; Tim Holt + Redmask. Maybe Young King Cole + Criminals on the Run, although they dropped Toni Gayle when they changed the title.

But, I'm in favor of separating titles if they change publishers, since the site's main division is by publisher.

The New Heroic section I looked at only says "Warning: No files were found in this category".

Part of the challenge of consolidating different-named titles in the same section is having them sort properly (i.e. lower numbered issues first). Sometimes the alphabet is on your side, and sometimes it isn't.

But I'm in favor of the consolidation under the terms that Len mentions above.

Guys, I'm happy with it as-is.  Less work for the overworked staff.
There is no quick easy way to rename large groups of scans.  Each would need to be done one by one.
Lots of work, not fun.  Very busy at the moment.

Maybe you'll have a quiet week someday.
Meanwhile, keeping title-changes separate is OK, but 'Heroic' is still 3 separate titles, in 'paper' & on-line catalogues, starting with Reg'lar Fellers Heroic, and ending with New Heroic.

By the way, I checked both Reg'lar Fellers & New Heroic sections, and both say only "Warning: No files were found in this category". No links to plain ol' Heroic.

It says to check Heroic in the info section, where issues published data is put, not Latest download or available. There is no link from hew or reg'lar fellers to plain old heroic.

New Heroic Comics

Please refer to the Heroic comics section

Ok, got it!
I always go from the home page to the title I'm looking for, so I (almost) never see the main publisher pages. A new user to the site who does the same might think that there were no 'New Heroic' issues without doing further searches.

Interesting that some file names are correct, e.g. 'New_Heroic_Comics_94.cbr', which appears in the description of 'Heroic 94'.

The 'Warning: No files were found in this category' message is part of the software code.  There's nothing I can do to change it to customize it for each folder.  Perhaps another feature fix for our future someday.
