Costume Logos
« on: October 17, 2011, 02:34:03 AM »
OK, weird idea time.  I'm not particularly interested in making the effort to create a costume for a convention; if nothing else it would get in the way of my wandering as people ask for pictures and so on.

However, I did have an idea that I thought would be interesting:  Create a couple of t-shirts that had character logos as they appear on the costume.  The classic examples would be Superman and Batman; you see t-shirts with their logos all the time, but the shirts also recreate how the character's chest area would look in costume.  I was going to get a couple shirts made like that, only with characters that aren't popular enough that anybody has ever bothered selling shirts like that.  My first idea was Ultra Boy from the Legion of Super-Heroes; since I'm a legion fan and his logo adapts well to that sort of shirt.

If I'm going to bother to go ahead and get shirts like this done, I would also like to make one or two based on older characters, preferably PD but that's not mandatory.  Any suggestions on characters who have that sort of chest logo that could work on a t-shirt, who are NOT popular enough that somebody's actually already done it?  The first one that comes to mind is Black Terror, but too many people would think it's the Punisher, and they're a bit too well-know.

Take a good look at the pyramid design which (F)Lash Lightning and Lightning Girl wear on their costumes. I think it may be the sort of thing you're looking for. It came to mind immediately. Magno's chest symbol might also be worth considering.

How about Ajax's Black Cobra or The Flame or Black Lion or Wonder Man or the Green Turtle's cape. After looking around I am surprised at how few logos heroes wore

Has to be a logo eh?
Briefer's Frankenstein face is one I'd like.

Logos...
Lash Lighting is pretty cool
GA Atom
Quality's Blackhawk (might already be a t-shirt)
Capt. Midnight
Fox's Wonderman
Catman
Lev Gleason's Silver Streak
The Green Hornet (but that might make some think you liked the movie...)
Timely's Whizzer

Hope that helped

If you wanted a bit more of a challenge, have a half red/half blue Daredevil t-shirt. Or a red shirt with Crimebuster's "C" on the front, and his jersey number, (76) on the back. (And if you wanted to be really creative, his blue and white armbands on the sleeves.)

The Aussie Catman had a nice cat-head logo.

Timely's Angel had a good logo.

The Target and the Targeteers' targets, but that may be too generic.

American Eagle didn't have a logo per se, but I think his red and white stripes on the bottom of a blue shirt could be interesting.

Fighting Yank's American Flag on a white shirt.

Ace's "Flag" had a red shirt with a diagonal blue band with white stars on it. That could be an interesting design.

Over in Heroic Comics, Rainbow Boy had a rainbow on his shirt, but that can mean something else entirely today...

Plastic Man could be an interesting challenge. A red shirt with a flesh colored "V" and crisscrossing black straps on the front and back, and his yellow and black belt at the bottom...

Mr. Terrific's "Fair Play" logo...

Phantom Eagle is another option.

And here is Char Chapman, Australian hero with a neat logo:-

Sorry they are from ebay and a pic in the middle of an interview.  Best I could do in a few minutes.
