One of my favourite comics from childhood
« on: August 17, 2011, 10:54:49 AM »
I'm delighted to say I found my of my favourite comics here today. ;D A comic I remember reading in about 1964 when I was 11 years old. I originally found it in a second-hand comics box for about a penny (UK old penny, that is, pre-decimalisation) and loved both the artwork and the stories. :) I remember discussing the artwork of this comic with somebody a few years later, in 1972, when I was 19 and I attended the first ever British Comics Convention at the Waverley Hotel in London. 8) Since then I stupidly sold my comics for much less than they were worth and have since regretted not owning a copy of this beautiful science fiction comic. :'( The comic I remebered so fondly is Planet Comics #73 published by Fiction House and, thanks to The Digital Comic Museum, I now have a digital copy.  ;)

More than one person!  I had one issue of ME's STRONG MAN as a kid and loved it.  Now I have all 4 digital.  I'm uploading the run as an archive.  I also found the 2 IW reprints of ME's JET COMICS (as JET POWER) at the kiosk at the railroad station where my dad worked.  Loved those too, and thanks to DCM I now have all 4 issues of the original ME book!

I've been able to identify the source of a few horror comics stories which I read when I was barely literate (some of which I obtained by trading) which had elements that stuck with me for decades. There are other stories I only partially remember which I still hope to re-encounter and this is the place where I have the best chance of doing so.
