a powerful search engene?
« on: June 12, 2011, 05:41:04 AM »
Dear Admin,
I would like to search something like "China".
I could only get "blue beetle 022" here. Any other comic books contain "China" related cartoons?
I want to read more about "Wing Lee Boy Patriot of China" and as many Chinese charaters in the WWII comic books.
Many thanks.

Unfortunately, there is very little information in the West on Chinese comics (I wasn't aware they existed, frankly) and none of us know enough about Chinese copyright law to know if they would be safe to distribute.

There might be rare stories related to China--I believe that the Green Turtle stories are set there, with the possibility that the Turtle himself may be Chinese--but they're very uncommon and even rare, if you'd like the Chinese people within portrayed as something other than the shovel-toothed hunchback depictions common to the books of the day.

many thanks.
There is a China Theatre in the WWII, and General Wedemeyer/Stilwell worked in China as the General Commander of USA Army. I read Wing Lee Boy Patriot of China, in which Wing Lee, a Chinese boy saved an American pilot, one of the Flying Tigers(American Volunteer Group). I am not going to find Chinese language cartoons, I am looking for American WII comic books that dipicted the China Theatre(whoever American or Chinese in the comic books)

Do you know where I can get more Wing Lee series cartoons? e.g., where could I found Blue Beetle 023.

Another quesiton, I use http://www.comics.org to search there are 100+ China related cartoon stories, however, I could not find the related stories in the cartoons downloaded from this site. Why? Is http://www.comics.org data or this site's data incomplete/inaccurate?

GCD is for data only.  They don't share the actual comics.  Its data can be used to search for the actual books.
You can search for Characters as well as artist, publishers, etc on GCD as well.
A search for Wing Lee gives you the following results -
http://www.comics.org/character/name/Wing%20Lee/sort/alpha/
We have Blue Beetle 21 and 22 here -  http://digitalcomicmuseum.com/index.php?cid=548
Blue Beetle #23 has not be scanned so we can't help there, sorry.

GL on your search,
-Yoc

DC has published Wonder Woman reprints in a Wonder Woman Archive. Number 3 has a reprint of Wonder Woman issue Six so it should have the story you seek. Many libraries do carry these archive editions

That would be your best bet.
Wonder Woman and all DC characters are NOT in the public domain and will never be on DCM.
