Smallville series final

I liked it!
The CGI Darkseid could have been better but it is tv.  As it was his was one of the weaker fx in a double episode full of sfx.

Great to see Michael Rosenbaum as Lex again and how they almost brought him back was truly creepy stuff!
But they gave us what we'd been waiting for for years.  The costume/flying ending rocked!

I didn't see it, but I'm really not much of a fan with their...let's call it their "approach" to the Superman legend.  I enjoyed a lot of their revised history in the early days, but it always seemed a shakier premise when the human factor (especially the parents) shuffled off the stage and Clark met half the DCU (including Green Arrow who Won't.  Go.  Away!), who apparently have just been sitting around waiting for a snotty know-it-all leader.

However, I read through the Comics Alliance live blog:

It's pretty funny, and suggests that the episode was pretty heavy on exactly the stuff I didn't like about the series.  Plus, it seems like everybody trots out Darkseid for a big finale, and I can't help think it's just sort of a lazy choice of villain.

That's just me, though, and I might give it a watch, just to see if I'm just being way too critical.

I can't say I was disappointed by the CGI effects, since I really wasn't expecting much that would be memorable, but I certainly wasn't impressed either. The first season and this season were the only two I had much of a chance to watch, and while I really didn't care for the few early episodess I saw, I thought the episode I watched this year were better comparitively. I hadn't seen the previous five or six episodes and I almost forgot that it was wrapping up, so I saw the finale more by accident than intention. Basically, I'm just glad it is over. Over all, I thought "Lois and Clark" was much more entertaining and watchable, and I still don't think the original televison version has been surpassed, despite the fact that effects have gotten much more sophisticated since it was filmed.
