Peter George Caras died on February 28, 2022. Not a comic book artist, but he did paint  the cover to the paperback novel Captain America and the Great Gold Steal (1968).

Peter David passed away yesterday.  I only met him once, at ECCC, but he was a marvelous writer with an extraordinary ability to mix humor and drama.

Jim Shooter has passed away:

He managed a 60 year career in comics, with his first work being submitted when he was 13 and his first regular run, on the Legion of Super-Heroes in Adventure Comics, starting when he was 14.  I feel a little bad suggesting he did his best work when he was a teenager, but his early run on the Legion was absolutely amazing, one of the first to bring some of the Marvel Sensibility over to DC.  Thrilling and fun and with a sense anything could happen, including characters dying, and various clever twists.  One of my all-time favorite comic book runs.  He managed to annoy a lot of pros and some fans, but he did a lot of good comics as both writer and editor.

Just realized I had failed to post this earlier this year: Jack Katz passed away in April at 97, one of the last survivors of the Golden Age:
