Welcome to the site Roger.
I know at least three or four exist but I couldn't tell you more than that.  Sorry.
Google would be my first place to check.

Janus at GAC-UK is working on a comic reader app that may fit the bill. It may be ready for mass distribution soon

My own "GrassGames' Comic Reader" will do the job.

Download the comics to your PC or Mac  from here, then upload them to the iPad via iTunes, and you're ready to go. More details in the app.

OK Here is the deal. I have been reading books on the Ipad since April. I have a HUGE collection of digital books that I also have shared via Windows File Sharing.

The two apps you should get are:

ComicZeal

and

FileBrowser

They are a couple of bucks each but here is the advantage. You can access your comics over the network with FileBrowser, and then immediately open them in ComicZeal! This may not seem like a big deal to you initially but most other "reader" apps require you to copy over your comics to the Ipad via Itunes. Thats fine if you know what you want to read at the time you have your Ipad connected, but its a pain in the ass if you are laying in bed and suddenly want to read a book from 25 years ago.

I highly recommend it. If you have any other questions let me know.

Folks there are two versions of this app. (ComicZeal), one the $8 version works on the iPad, the $4 version does not, (works on iPod/iPhone only). Just a heads up so you don't get the wrong version.

Comics X and Comics+ are two more available readers for iPod/iPhone/iPad, both are FREE by the way.
Just a couple more options on this, I believe there are some more available too.

All good ideas. The reason I use ComicZeal is that it registers itself as the defacto comic reader app for ecomic files across the iPad. This way I can open comics from email dropbox, etc..

I dont know if any of the others do. I wish CZ would zoom panel by panel like the DC and Marvel apps do tho.
