Hi guys,
"The sixth issue [of Blue Circle Comics] consisted of a new cover over several different remaindered comics."
This is the prevailing consensus about Blue Circle #6, here quoted from the GCD, and corroborated in part by the "Bugsie Siegal version" copy we have on the site, from JVJ.
Well, I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but we've also got what looks likely to have been the INTENDED CONTENTS of Blue Circle #6...and it's right here on the site! It's the contents of Roly Poly Comics #15 (or Vol.2 #6), posted by prime user on the 18th (thank you, prime!) and located in the MLJ folder.
Although the Black Hood is on the cover, and despite the fact that at least two other issues of Roly Poly (#1 & #10) do indeed have MLJ material, this issue (#15 on the cover, Vol.2 #6 in the indicia) is comprised of features for an entire issue of Blue Circle:
1st Feature: Blue Circle
2nd Feature: Toreador
3rd Feature: Maureen Marine
4th Feature: Diftwood Davey
5th Feature: Steel Fist
6th Feature: Slaphappy Grandpappy
All of these were Blue Circle features and none of these stories are ones that appear in Blue Circle #1-5!
So, if all of the comics that had the cover for Blue Circle #6 were indeed remaindered contents, it appears that Roly Poly Comics #15 contained remaindered material from Blue Circle...or something along those lines.
With this in mind, it might be a good idea to take Roly Poly #15 out of the MLJ folder and put it into the Rural Home folder.
Whatever the case, though, it's great to have another issue with these features!
(On a side note, the indicia for #1 says "Copyright 1944--published by Burten Magazine Distributing Co., 431 So. Dearborn St., Cichago, Ill."; while #15--supposedly the 7th issue in reality--lists Green Publihing Co., Akron, OH. Anyone know what the connection between these two publishers is?)
Cheers!
