You are welcome. I wanted to see these myself. This one was my best pick up yet, $48 for the coverless copy. I wish they were all that easy. It seems most of the issues needing upgrade are also among the rarer issues, only 14 of America's Best #12 in the CGC census.

As time goes on and prices rise, more and more less-than-great copies will end up slabbed.

Wow, I had no idea there are only 14 left of ABC #12 in the census. Makes you stop and realize just how rare a lot of these issues have become, which also means it's extremely important to support DCM so that these comics will be readily available for future generations. I'm hoping we can get upgrades on America's Best Comics #7 and #8 (the latter of which has some fiche). But I know that tracking them down for a reasonable price is going to be very tough for the scanners.

krankyboy,
The best case for DCM scanning is a coverless copy or low grade copy with covers separated. These are 80 year old books and scanning 48-64 pages tends to separate the covers if they are not already separated. I've learned that the hard way, so future scans from me will focus on the CZUR overhead scanner. I do have some Nedor fiche only replacements coming, just not America's Best 7 or 8.

Irek, Slabbing is not a problem as the slabs are easy to remove. The hard part is finding a low grade copy at all for certain issues, usually ones that are higher demand or lower population.

agentdynamo - True, but you're paying for the slab and the grading process that usually accompanies it, thus driving the price up. I would expect a $10-$20 loose book to run at least double that when slabbed. But maybe I'm wrong, since golden age titles are not really my thing. Either way, keep up the good work.

Irek, Correct, we are paying extra for slabs with some resilience against overgrading, though IMHO I've seen that from CGC as well. Best case these are $100-200 books. CGC rates for pre-1975 with fair market value less than $400 is $35. Add postage and you have $40-50 in charges.

Amazing. If you want to add it, I did up a full recreation of the indicia primarily based on srca1941's scan of ABC #21, and aligned with a quadrilaterally corrected version of the fiche as closely as I could.
