Hi...I am having a lot of problems with this set of books. I tried to download them as cbr, cbz, zip and even pdf but they wont convert via Calibre into pdf files so I can read them. I got a popup message that "Cannot convert Freddt 014 Nov 1958. This book is locked by DRM.....blahblahblah.   I dont know of any other way to read downloaded books except to convert them pdf via Calibre. So can some one tell me please how I go about reading these comics? Cheers Net.

Sorry to hear you've had a problem reading DCM files. Please forgive me if I misunderstand your problem or misjudge your level of computer expertise.

Here is one good way to handle your problem:

(1) Get yourself a good file archiver and a PDF creator. I highly recommend
      (A) 7-Zip, open source software which can handle almost any archived file: http://www.7-zip.org/
      (B) i2pdf, excellent free software that converts a set of image files to a PDF document: https://freeshell.de/~luis/i2pdf/

(2) Download "Freddy 14" (Freddy_014_Charlton_Nov_1958_36p_c2c.rar), which is compressed as a RAR file (less common than ZIP or other formats)

(3) Right-click on "Freddy 14" to decompress it and create a folder containing all of the JPG images (folder creation happens automatically)

(4) Drag and drop the images onto i2pdf

(5) Use Calibre or other appropriate software to view your PDF

Enjoy your comic!

Netasha - I take it your problem is with the CBR books only?  Windows can unzip the .cbz files once you change the extension to .zip.  The first thing to remember is that despite the extension, these CBR books are actually in the RAR format.  I suggest you proceed as follows:  (1)  Download the books.  (2)  Change the extension from .cbr to .rar.  This will help Windows recognize what type of file it is when trained later, although Windows itself does not have an RAR extract facility as far as I know.  (3)  Download the free RAR extract application "RAR Extract Frog" and load it into your computer.  I have never had any problem with this software and it is free.   Go to http://www.philippwinterberg.com/software/free_rar_extract_frog.php  (4) Using the RAR Extract Frog, expand your RAR folders.  If you wish to "train" Windows to use the Extract Frog, right click on them in Explorer and then select the Frog from the available programs.

It's actually pretty easy when you get used to it.  Good luck.
