Animal Comics is keeping up the quality with good and mostly gentle stories.  The back cover claims this is the first comics appearance of Uncle Wiggily and there is another Pogo, still starring the black child Bumbazine rather than Pogo himself, and the whole looking very different from the classic Pogo.  I especially enjoyed the art on Merry Meadows by Justin C Gruelle.  It takes place in an animaltown, but with a subtown of bugs which functions as running gags, and I especially liked the briefly seen world of fish, which was beautifully drawn.

Worth noting that Justin Gruelle ("Pupetta At the Circus") was the younger brother of Johnny Gruelle, creator of both the Raggedy Ann and Andy books and dolls, as well as a number of other children's books. When Johnny Gruelle passed on in 1938, his son Worth and brother Justin continued the Raggedy Ann books, which after a time became a family occupation.
