Synopsis: Wealthy businessman Reggie and his girlfriend Phyllis visit his hometown. Reggie is attracted to nurse Lola, which makes Phyllis angry. She returns to the city. Reggie proposes marriage to Lola but she and her father say she doesn’t belong in his world. Reggie agrees, but says he can’t relocate to the small town for business reasons. They sadly part ways.

Synopsis: After her mother dies, Ginny goes to live with her aunt and uncle but is lonely in her new town and school. She dates Rick, who has a wild reputation, then meets newcomer Kent. They fall in love but Ginny realizes she has been marked by her association with Rick and this affects both her social life and Kent’s chances for a job. For Kent's benefit, Ginny breaks up with him. Perhaps someday, after Ginny’s “made a fresh start somewhere else,” they can be reunited.

Claudia introduces Paul to impressionism and Paulette breaks up with him as a result. Jean and Claudia fall in love. Meanwhile, Paulette has a new protege, Henri, and forbids him to paint portraits.

Alec takes his work at the family factory seriously and when he gets too busy, he sends Norm as a substitute escort for Marva. Marva later learns Alec has become engaged to “a simple, unaffected kid” and realizes her social climbing ruined their relationship.
