Synopsis: Betsy is a waitress at Chad’s diner. She falls in love with him; he’s friendly doesn’t reciprocate her romantic feelings. Chad begins to date chorus girl Sharon, but discovers she’s a gold-digger and breaks up with her. Chad bitterly takes out his anger on his customers and Betsy. Betsy tells Chad he needs to straighten up and that not all women are bad. Chad apologizes and he and Betsy admit their love for each other.

Donald is upset when her trait ruins his men’s club annual dinner; when she buys his sister an imitation cut-glass bowl as a wedding gift, Donald calls her “an incurable cheapskate—a miser!” and breaks off their romance. Karen changes her ways and Donald comes back to her.

Mary is attracted to co-worker Kevin, but rejects his advances. After her mother dies, Mary’s aunt and uncle move in. Aunt Belle advises Mary to become more social, but she is awkward and doesn’t fit in. Mary tries one more time at the annual dinner and nearly runs away when criticized by Winnie, but Kevin urges her to stand up for herself. She does, Kevin kisses her, and everything is all right from that point onward.
