Lithe, athletic, and clad in skimpy leopard skin, and barefoot, she possessed the ability to communicate with the wild animals she had grown up with since being orphaned in the jungle. She was the first female comic-book character with her own title, with her Spring 1942 premiere beating Wonder Woman #1 (Summer 1942) by three months.
