This book has not got the usual Severin and Elder signature on the cover. I get the impression Harvey Kurtzman may have inked it. He did ink earlier stories by Severin in PCW and he has mentioned a dislike for Severin's thinlined style. Although Elder's inking is similarely heavy, it is also a bit stiffer than what we see here... |

I agree with Ger! That sure looks like it could be Harvey's inking on the cover! This is a beautiful scan and a "prize" comic. I love these Severin/Elder stories! Thanks! |

American Eagle, the hero whose picture appears on the cover of this comic, first appeared in PRIZE COMICS WESTERN #85. Often rendered as a Caucasian, he's always depicted as being a Native American and the chieftain of his particular tribe. Without looking at his origin story, it is impossible to know if he is a Caucasian raised by Native Americans or a Native American in his own right. |
