I live in Germany but I come from Italy
I'm a Bonelli comics fan (Tex, Zagor) und
above all old western comics from U.S.
I'm happy....that I've find this homepage
Great!

Hi eismann,
what a coincidence! ;) Speaking of Goldena Age, did you know that Siegel & Schuster's Superman (rechristened "Ciclone") first appeared here in Italy precisely on the pages of "L'Audace", the historical pre-war publication which gave birth to the Bonelli publishing enterprise?

Ciao eismann,

There is nothing wrong with your English, which is better than the English of many native speakers; I understand you perfectly. There is a wealth of western comics here. Read a few of the Straight Arrow books from Magazine Enterprises which, I think, are splendid. I know a little about Zagor, who is a character I like, but I do not know Tex at all.

Always feel free to express your opinions here, or to ask questions.

@Valliant
Superman appared by "Audace" nr. 299 (21.9.1939) but the text has been attributed to Zenobio Baggioli und the drawing to Zenba (nickname of Baggioli)
becouse the MinCulPop (ministero della cultura popolare, ministry of culture) didnot allow american comics. (Tarzan was Sigfrido  8))
But the first time it was publish in 2.07.1939 nr. 19 by "Albi Audacia"

Hi everybody my name is Kostas, I come from Greece and I've been reading comics for my entire life. I study at the University of Athens and I work part-time as a spanish teacher. I randomly discovered this site from Facebook through a DCnU fan page (yeah that's  the defintion of irony for you.) What I mostly like to read are silver-bronze age comics (I even used to collect ATLAS comics :P). Golden age stories caught my eye as fillers in these books (I loved the Captain Comet reprints in world's finest) and by some marvel golden age collections. So I've wanted to get a grip of these comics and thanxs to this site now I have a chance!  ;D

Thanxs for reading and keep up the good work you do here! Be seeing you!

Enjoy!

Hello

I'm a returning member. I was here two years ago when the site was starting, and then a whole bunch of things happened. But I'm back now.

I'm a digital archivist and I'm building a database of reference and inspiration for cartoonists as part of a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. We have over 7,000 digitized animated films, 1000 artist biographies and around 125,000 high resolution scans. All of the material is in a database and cross referenced. It's a lot of work, but I have a crew of volunteers who keep the scanner burning.

I haven't scanned a lot of comic books, but I have a huge stack of golden age funny animal comics that I'd be happy to share when they reach their place in line. If anyone would like to find out more about my project, feel free to contact me.

Wonderful news we need those scans of funny animal comics. It is one of the areas still very lacking.

Hi, guys.
I'm a dinki-di Aussie who has read and loved comics since 6yo - small-sized compact comic books that included titles Kit Carson, Buffalo Bill, Robin Hood, etc, regular-sized issues (The Phantom, Straight Arrow, Classics Illustrated, blah-blah), and Golden Books (Broken Arrow, etc).  As well as less "serious" stuff like Archie and Jughead.
I used to walk all over town hunting for empty drink bottles that could be sold for a couple of pennies refunds and I used that to buy / swap comics at the local "book exchange".  I just wish I had kept them all.  *sigh*
I'm sure this site will bring back a lot of memories,
Glad to be here.
 ;D
