Jungle women and monkey men
« on: January 14, 2015, 05:20:48 PM »
In 1968 I found a black and white reprint of a jungle girl story published in an Eerie Publications magazine (not "Eerie" which was published by Warren) that I have been searching for in its original color form. The unique element of this story was the fact that the primate villains, who were kidnapping the village women, were not great apes but were monkey sized almost dwarfish little guys whose practice was attacking small groups of women, overpowering them and carrying them off to be slaves. Anyone familiar with this story?

I'm sure someone will.

According to wikipedia the only 1968 Eerie titles were:

Tales from the Crypt (1 issue, July 1968)
Tales of Voodoo (36 issues, Nov. 1968 – Nov. 1974)
Weird (69 issues, Jan. 1966 – Nov. 1981)

You could have a look through the entries for those titles in 1968 here:

Hmmm, strange, I am an horror expert, but don't know that story.
Might not be a horror story.
Please inquire on this fabulous website listing ALL stories and reprints of Eerie Pubs:

http://www.enjolrasworld.com/Miscellaneous/Keith%20Smith/Eerie%20Publications%20Index.htm

Tried to find something by searching for the terms "apes", "monkey", "jungle" and "slaves" - but to no avail.
Then again, YOU know the story, have a go at it. Good luck.

Thanks for the assistance. Went through all the Eerie Publications for that year (at your recommended website) and came up empty. Sorry--don't have a page image, just a memory. I thought it was an Eerie Publication b/c it had one of those typical covers. Guess I'm out of luck. Thanks for your time. --Oscar

Too bad.
My guess is it wasn't something from Eerie Pubs?
Some other mag?

I have ALL  the EERIE Pubs.. are you sure 100% that it was in 1968?
Could it have been 1969? If so.. possibly a Stanley Morse book such as SHOCK.
