NEW GAC
« on: April 07, 2012, 06:04:26 PM »
No need to wait. Mark had everything worked out so NOW is the time to check it out! BTW you can use the old address and will be redirected to the new or just go there directly  http://comicbookplus.com/

AS a grand opening door prize you can get the first look at Cannonball #1. I think this is my best ever 300 ppi scan. Mark has a new viewer that is very fast and the book looks good even there but is ready for download also. Please wait a week before posting on DCM to allow CB+ to get the bang.

Congrats on the debut Narf!
Just asked Mark to let me rejoin with my old name.
(It says Yoc is reserved atm.  I admit being cautious but not reserved.  ;) )

I just logged in with my old GAC info, never signed up again or emailed anyone or anything, I just went & logged in.

The only thing I want to know about the new site is if they finally got rid of that nonsense of the download limit constantly zeroing out, even if you never download a single thing, and then the only way to get it back is to have an admin log in to your acct & reset it manually. That error went on for literally years upon years. That's why I stopped wasting any time with GAC & was glad when DCM popped up.
Don't get me wrong, I understand that bugs happen, but I have never seen a case where a bug lasted for years without anyone being able to fix it.

Well when there is no one who has any knowledge of the inner working of a program it does not get fixed. The new director of the site is a programmer and has worked out the bugs. If all is running as planned then you should not need to contact a moderator to download. If you think it was a hassle for you, just think of it from the moderators perspective. We are the most glad to see the new site.

Since we are not in competition, we need some help at CB+

You may notice a lack of most recent files. Since the upload feature is working please feel free to upload the files obtained here at DCM to GAC. I will be hitting the two big differences with SA Charltons and comic artist showcase. So any help upping GA is greatly appreciated.

I'd like to mention, by the way, that anybody with grievances at GAC/CB+ (for having to go through trouble to download things for free) should deal with them over there.  As Narf points out, what competition there is between the sites is very friendly, and we don't have any interest in hosting arguments about what some other site is doing wrong.

Best of luck, guys.

I wasn't trying to start an argument, nor "this site is great, that site sucks" or anything else of the sort. I was just trying to find out if that bug had finally been fixed before I bothered to do anything over there. That bug rendered the site quite useless, so if it still existed, then there was no point in me going to the new site. Perhaps my previous post came across a little more aggressive than intended, but that was just because of the frustration of a bug which renders a site's primary function non-functional & goes for years without being addressed.

I picked up your intent there Drahken.
I think John was just worried others might post something worse than your legitimate complaint.
And as one of those former staff that had to reset limits DAILY for six months - narf is right - it was a huge pain-in-the-butt for staff as well!  I hope CB+ has fixed that problem and is moving forward to a brighter future.

I saw that CB+ has an online reader which seems to work fine, so the comics can at least be read that way, even if the old bug hasn't been fixed.
