Fascinating post. Hard to believe it, but this section came out months before Eisner's first Spirit Section in June 2 1940. And these featured reprints by Eisner and Klaus Nordling, who later would draw The Spirit and Lady Luck respectively in the Spirit Sections. I'd be willing to bet that this comic book insert inspired Eisner's own Spirit Section!
