Thanx for these excellent scnas of an excellent comic. The Pie-Faced Prince of Pretzelburg and Jíngle-Jangle Tales are long overdue to be reprinted as timeless classics of surreal comic art. George Calson, alas, seems to be another forgotten genius. As far as I know, only Harlan Ellison ever wrote about Carlson,  in a harcover collection from the 1970s. If I recall cporreectly it wa edited by Richard Lupoff, and titled All in Color for a Dime.

6 weeks ago I did show a couple of my Jingle Jangle Comics to Peter Maresca from  Buenaventura (whi had been attending our Small Press Con at  Stockholm. He never had heard of it, and he seemed to be impressed. So, hopefully, he may feature Carlson in on of Buenaventuras beautiful books - or maybe even launch a reprint edition.

In the meantime, I just hope that all the Jingle Jangles I'm missing (which is all but nr 6, 17 and 19) will turn up here, eventually.

If you know of any other work George Varlson has done, or have any info about him at all - please, let me know at
