:-/  Hate to sound like a newbe but I am getting the Planet comics and they say GM removed. What strip or who is GM ?  I know it's going to be obvious and I'll feel really stupid after someone answers. I know BR is Buck Rogers over in Famous Funnies. But I can't figure out GM.

GM was a watermark from a now-defunct company that was selling scans of Public Domain books.  We had refrained from using these scans while the company was operating since we didn't want to get into a fight with them, and the watermarks were ugly.  Now that the company is dead some of them are getting posted as placeholders; or with the watermarks removed.

Yes it has almost been a year since the last reply....but.. I was wondering if anyone knows WHO was behind GM scans? And..I would like to shock everyone and thank them for the scans they released.. most are very well done watermark aside.. and.. seeing as how there are people selling scans on ebay that are obviously from here.. I can say I don't blame GM for "protecting" their work.

I'm de-GMing The Arrow #1 currently.. it just takes a little time to repair the watermark damage..

here's a sample..

Good Job and Good luck with the clean up.  I agree, some of the scans were well done and have provided a good source for DCM preservation.

I know how time consuming and difficult removing the watermark can be. Some pages are easier than others but it does take a lot of time and effort.  Thanks for the effort.

GM watermarks were added by a firm selling them on cds many years ago.  They also got very snarky with us at the time so we don't have fond memories of them now.
Thanks for all the hard work removing them.  Personally I hope larger new versions of these books will eventually show up.

Thanks for the replies.. Yoc.. do you have a list of the scans? Well.. what I'm really asking is do we know whats on the list that we don't have. If anything.

I have a list of all the GM books but I haven't figured out how many are still needed here.  I'd guess about half of them are here IIRC.
They are smaller scans than we like on DCM so we list them as placeholders in hopes people will do new versions.
