Video: Dell Comics and Gold Key Comics--a Brief History
« on: March 26, 2013, 08:24:27 PM »
I've just produced this video for the library at the Ringling College of Art and Design. I'm no great shakes as a narrator, but I am sadly the best the library has for such things.

Thank you. I thoroughly enjoyed the video and will repost the link to comicsuk for their World Comics section. As an aside, in the U.K. WDL (World Distributors Ltd.)  reprinted loads of Dell titles, in slightly different sized formats and sometimes in colour, sometimes B&W.  And prior to 1958, I think, WDL reprinted in Digest size books
In Australia, Dell titles such as Gunsmoke appeared in pocket library format in B&W. (Gunsmoke was re-titled Gunlaw in the U.K. - please don't ask me why, I haven't a scoobie)
I was sure that Hermes had the rights to re-publish The Phantom, not Dark Horse.  Or did I misunderstand that bit?

Thanks for reposting the video. I believe you are right--I lumped the Phantom reprints by Hermes in when I mentioned the Dark Horse reprints. But we have it in our library regardless, so as long as it gets our students interested, that's the main thing.

paw broon, I saw the link to the video you put up on comicsuk. I love all the additional information others posted in reply. (Though no one has mentioned how mind-numbingly brilliant the actual video is  :()

Thanks again for posting it there.

Thanks. I guess I'll have to be less brilliant in the future or civilization might collapse.
