Ah, the d/l's from CB+ work! I still see interruptions, but their servers can resume the transfer. I guess I'll be spending more time there. Cheers!

CORRECTION: Well, not quite. One succeeded, and the next fails continuously. Bummer. I guess I'll stay in restart-till-it-works mode both here and at CB+.

Hi C,
Sorry CB+ wasn't any help.
How about you try downloading on a different PC?
Perhaps at the library or a friends?  It might be an internal setting on your PC or your ISP perhaps having problems?  We haven't had anyone else complain about the kind of problems you've been having.

I logged onto DCM on another machine, very different than my usual (which I'm on now) -- different makers and vintages and connections, and different versions of Windoze and MSIE and Chrome. Their only commonality is that their signals feed through the same DSL modem to the same ISP. I'm trying to download the same files, various of the OUT OUR WAY collections, using both MSIE and Chrome. ALL the d/l's have hung. In a few minutes I'll try the same d/l's at CB+. If no success, I'll try rebooting the DSL modem.

Meanwhile, d/l's from Archive.Org and Proj.Gutenburg and WFMU.Org, and some bit.torrents, are all zipping right along. Is a puzzlement. #8-( Yes, I know those other sites probably have higher-capacity commo than do DCM and CB+ (except maybe WFMU) and I've taken that into account. I can be patient -- for awhile. I hope I won't have to admit defeat here.

I've just downloaded about 20 random including Out Our Way files and had zero problems.
I've also uploaded about 8 and again, everything looks good.

I'm mystified.

Could it be the simple machine database that is conflicting?

I doubt it when he is the only one that has this problem Narf.
If it were common I'm sure we would be swamped with complaints.

But he's tried it on more than one PC Narf and DCM and CB+ are his only troubling sites so what can we say?
He might still try it from the library or work to see if it's ISP is all I can suggest.  It wouldn't solve his home problem but it might explain it...

It's very odd he's the only one with the problem and I wish I could do something for him to help.

OK, downloads on the second machine (a decade-old Sony mini-laptop with WinXP) succeed with the Chrome browser -- usually. A first attempt at Eerie UK #3 failed on "unknown network error" but the second try worked. So I'll assume that my first machine (a 2-year-old HP maxi-laptop with Win7) has some system warez issues, despite being updated and rebooted regularly. Is this an excuse to buy a newer better machine? Until then, I guess I'll do my DCM and CB+ d/l's on the Sony (when my wife isn't using it) and sneakernet them to the HP at the other end of the house. I need the exercise, sure. #8-)

Thanks for all the help and suggestions. Cheers!

Glad you can still get the scans C.
Let us know if the new machine solves the problem.
