OCTOPUS #4/SCORPION #1
« on: December 20, 2012, 08:13:15 PM »
I have yet to read either THE OCTOPUS #4 or THE SCORPION #1.  Both of these stories feature the Skull Killer, actually a doctor named Jeff Fairchild who treated the poor during the day and murdered criminals by night.  The Octopus was the leader of  the Purple Eyes, an organization that sought to rule the world; he was based in the hospital.  The Skull Killer meets the Scorpion in the latter issue.  As with the Octopus, the Scorpion also ruled the Purple Eyes, and moved about the streets in a garbage truck.  In fact, the story in which he appears was originally penned as an Octopus story, but was changed to accommodate the Scorpion.  Weird, eh? ;)

Whew, thanks, Yoc!  I almost wore that exact outfit, today.  That would've been pretty embarrassing.

Not sure if Glammazon means the pulp or the much later comic.  So, in case, here's the comic cover drawn by Gary Terry.

There were photocopies of Octopus and Scorpion pulps done in the '70's?  I have a couple of these poorly done copies but heaven only knows where they are now.
Another Gary Terry comic was, Atom, Robot Adventurer.  Have a look here (scroll down just a bit):-

He might also have done the Green Turtle b&w which you'll find further down the page
As for Mister X, the difference between the movie costume and the comic on can be seen here.

This Mister-X appeared in comics in Italy, France and the Netherlands.

I read somewhere that he misplaced his octopus ring and replaced it with a cool scorpion one he found  : )
