  • Oh, Golden Age!
I didn't know Nigel, but we've all benefited from his scans - this is sad to hear - my condolences.

So sad to hear this.

Its from his great work that i was able to write up many of the Who's Who entries for golden age DC, Quality and Fawcett characters that are floating around the 'net.

He will be missed.

Yoc, sorry to hear of your loss.  My deepest sympathies go out to all of his friends & family.

I didn't know Nigel personally, but when I discovered GAC, several scanner names stood-out to me as representing a high-quality comic file, and "Phabox" was one of the scanners that inspired me to begin scanning & sharing whatever PD comics I could get my hands on.

I'm sorry to hear about the loss.
The people who touch our lives in a positive way live on in our hearts. In that sense, they are never truly gone.

With her permission I've added some new images of Nigel and his girl-friend Kerry to the gallery link -

They've been told Nigel died of a massive heart attack.  He was 56 years old.

Hi guys,
I've learned the particulars of Nigel's funeral if anyone in England would like to know:

The funeral will be held at Southend-on-Sea Crematorium.  Friday 10th August at 1:00pm.

I've passed along all our condolences to his loved ones.  While I can't be there in person I made sure they knew I was in spirit.  A true friend to all of us in the GA comic community.

So sad to read this. I don't think I ever spoke to him or knew anything about him but his was a name I saw quite a bit and knew. My thoughts and prayers to his friends and family.

I just got this news a little while ago... I regret having been out of touch so long... Nigel will be truly missed. But, his legacy, of which I am but one example (his were among the first golden age scans I read online), will live forever.

I will miss the scanner, the host, and most of all, the man.
