For those who HAVEN'T solved the mystery, I chose Picture Parade #1, one of the truly bizarre covers in the history of comics! What WERE the artist and the editor thinking of? Let's do a sentimental picture of a boy and his dog and then let's get ready to turn them to bone and ash. Yeah, that'll sell this new comic.

Is it obscure? To some, yeah. Published by Gilberton (Classics Illustrated), so it's not THAT far off the mainstream.

I'm still working on yours, Mark. Haven't much time right now.

Good one. Popular title and cover. Lots of variety in the image. Just a little pat on the back for me for recognizing Powell from the first little clip from the cover.

Yeh ... the Picture Parade i went to as soon as i saw your last images. it's an issue I bumped across a month or so back and is bizarre to say the least!

No clue, Mark,
I see the artist as Pen Shumaker, which implies an Archie connection, but beyond that, I'm stumped. It appears to be either Romance or Crime and circa 1949-1950. My best guess.

Don't recognize the cover.

To help that wavy line is a crease and also according to GCD the cover was drawn by someone called : "?". They appear  to have been very busy as "?" is credited for everything in this issue. But do not let that fool you this is not an obscure issue from an obscure publisher far from it!
