But I had never heard of that before. Did some of YOU knew about this movie?
Just wondering - and marveling.

Funny thing, I've never seen it (though I spotted it available on Netflix, so I may remedy that soon despite not being so big on disco), but I was a kid when it was released, so I definitely remember the media blitz.  I think that was also the height of Ed Koch's (New York Mayor at the time, who passed away a couple of weeks ago) "How'm I doing?" ad campaign, just to sound topical.

I saw The Wiz when I was in grade school and loved the updated look and even some of the songs which is saying something as I hate musicals.

What even flashed me more was seeing the movie THE WIZ...

But I had never heard of that before. Did some of YOU knew about this movie?

I knew about it. I've seen it about 3 times on TV over the years. I was amused and glad it wasn't trying to be a remake of the 1939 movie.

Diana Ross as Dorthy was a stretch.  She looked and was a decade or more older than the actor they should have used.  Name recognition I guess.

Thanks for your memories of THE WIZ, guys!
I was just so baffled that it even existed. Learned in the meantime that diehard Michael Jackson fans were familiar with it.
They didn't like it, though...

Well, since we're not in Kansas anymore (I hope so at least) here's some eye-candy without music:

WONDER COMICS #20

Jim stuffed it in my pocket, I scanned it and it looks almost sensationel - wild mix of adventure and science fiction.

Thanks T!

Perhaps it was my young age but I enjoyed the The Wiz and I'm not a Jackson fan at all.  The surreal production, especially the subway number, and the songs were the most impressive.  It's worth a watch IMO.

OZ once again. Just saw that new film "Oz the Great and Powerful", which is veeery nice, too!
Sam Raimi's best looking horror film, by the way.
 :D

And comic-wise it's

JOE YANK #11

for today. I auctioned the still missing #9 from Ebay, but it won't arrive.
Starting to worry...

Pssshaaw.
Wrangled JOE YANK #9 out of the customs office - and three other books.
But for now it's

WORLDS OF FEAR #5

from Fawcett. Another different version.
And the last one, sadly. Jim does not have #9.

The way your avatar looks now, we'd be having problems at the customs office...

Time to sneak in one of Jim's romance books:
