I've just learned Canadian comics artist Darwyn Cooke (Nov 16, 1962 - May 14, 2016) has died of cancer.
Our condolences to his family and friends.  He did some very nice work with several GA characters we all know.
Of current artists he was one of my favourites.   :(

Ouch. Am shocked by that.
I only know his work fleetingly (cause he was a MODERN artist).
Cooke was brilliant, though, a true cartoonist.
Have to get some of his work - to remember him by...

Sports fans will all be saddened by the passing of two of the biggest legends in their fields -

Muhammad Ali (January 17, 1942 – June 3, 2016), boxing and cultural legend.  It's unlikely anyone out there that doesn't know of this larger than life man.

and

Gordie Howe (March 31, 1928 – June 10, 2016) NHL hero of the 50s and 60s and often called one of the greatest ever in the game.

A very sad week.

If anyone wants to see my pictures from the Muhammad Ali funeral procession, I've posted them here: http://marvelmasterworksfansite.yuku.com/reply/883888/Muhammad-Ali-The-Greatest-Of-All-Time-19422016#reply-883888

I don't live too far from the cemetery where he was buried (most of my family is buried there too), so I went over and took pictures. I also shot and posted video: https://youtu.be/k09yVHECTn0

John G. Fantucchio (May 15, 1938 -- Aug 04, 2016)
http://comicsdc.blogspot.com/2016/08/fanzine-and-fine-artist-john-fantucchio.html

John G. Fantucchio was a commercial artist from Arlington, VA. Fantucchio contributed to early fanzines in the late 1960s to the early 1970s (RB*CC, The Collector, etc). He also
drew two stories for the Warren horror magazines, Vampirella #5 and Creepy #34, in 1970.

For those unfamiliar with his work, plug “John G. Fantucchio” into Google Images and see what comes up.

Just noticed Melvin Lazarus had passed away:

MELL LAZARUS (May 3, 1927–May 24, 2016)
http://theconcourse.deadspin.com/mell-lazarus-and-momma-got-the-last-laugh-1790579263

Mell Lazarus created the comics strips Miss Peach (1957-2002) and Momma (1970-2016). Mell was the editor Al Capp’s comic company (1949–1953). He wrote some of the Shmoo comics (5 issues; Jul 1949–Apr 1950). Mell’s novel The Boss Is Crazy, Too (Dial, 1954) was
inspired in part by his experiences as an editor at Toby Press.
