Peter Wheat Spotlight (Updated 03.16.2025)

<< < (3/5) > >>

OtherEric:
This week we have the comic pages for Peter Wheat News #39, which actually gives us the full story and lets us release a new omnibus as well!  This is Hubbard's first story for news, he started on the Adventures title shortly before this.

OtherEric:
Today we're releasing another Peter Wheat News omnibus, featuring Walt Kelly's last story for the title, issues 34-36.  Unfortunately, we're working from a very poor copy of #34, but it will still let people read and enjoy the entire story!

OtherEric:
Today is the conclusion of the Peter Wheat Wednesdays, at least for now, and we're going out with a nice, large batch of material.  From Walt Kelly's part of the run, we've got half a dozen issues of Peter Wheat News.  Unfortunately, they're all extremely low quality, but as we've been saying at least they let us see the stories.  After this Peter Wheat Spotlight we're up to over half the issues of News with paper scans of the story pages, at least; and over 3/4 of the issues in some form.

Today's highlight, however, is another Omnibus from the Del Connell/ Al Hubbard team.  This one features Peter Wheat News 49-51, including the DCM debut of Peter Wheat News 51, giving us a total of seven Peter Wheat News stories in complete omnibus form.   (31-33 are so low quality we're not bothering with an omnibus at this point, if we find a couple of the issues in better quality we'll assemble one.)

We're quite aware that Peter Wheat is not to everybody's taste, but we hope that those of you who love the series like we do have enjoyed our efforts.  Here's hoping we find more material so we can do another one of these again sometime!

Yoc:
Great work Eric.
Fingers crossed we can do some more down the road!
:D

OtherEric:
And Peter Wheat Wednesdays are back for another three weeks, following up on the handful we just released for the DCM anniversary.  Strictly speaking, there's nothing 100% new today, since we already had VERY low quality copies of Peter Wheat News #31-33.  But today we're releasing brand new, high quality, paper scans of all three issues, along with another omnibus collecting the story.  If you had bothered getting the placeholder versions of the issues we had previously, you'll know how poorly they presented Walt Kelly's gorgeous artwork.  The new versions look amazing, so grab the story in either omnibus form or as individual issues, and enjoy!
