Does anyone happen to know the dimensions of Famous Funnies #1? Width and height?
Being one of the first comic books ever, I imagine the sizes of various comic books back then were not yet standardized.
On a related note, I believe that Batman #1 is 10-1/2" tall, not the standard 10-1/4" that is still used to this day.
Silver age Marvel is 6-7/8" x 10-1/4"
1950's Dell is 7-1/4" x 10-1/4"
1947 DC is about 7-1/2" x 10-1/4"
2019 DC 100 pagers (WalMart) is 6-7/16"x10-1/8"

Does anyone have any information on the companies that actually printed comic books over the years? What the publishing practicing were?

Yours in great old comic books!

I do not know the size, but I do know that it's oversized compared to comics from that era.

Don't know the exact dimensions, but I think I read somewhere that it was a folded newspaper broadsheet. Have to go through my books on comics history.

Western Publishing was a publisher for Dell up until 1962, and a self-publisher of Gold Key until they were forced to use the cheaper World Color who was publishing pretty much every other comic book company at that point.

I believe Eastern Color was their own publisher as well.

So how would a person figure out the size of these old books?
